Marine Corps Detachment Fort Leonard Wood is a subordinate command of Marine Corps Detachment Fort Lee located in southeastern Virginia. Its mission is to train non-commissioned officers, as well as enlisted Marines, from the Marine Corps Reserve, Fleet Marine Force and the Marine Corps Combat Development Command. The detachment supports training of approximately 1,700 Marines annually through the Marine Corps Engineer School, providing a variety of courses that build on basic technical skills, enhance professional leadership abilities, teach technical management and leadership expertise, and provide MOS specific training. They also provide administrative support for Marine Corps personnel assigned to the school. The detachment is a key link between the Marine Corps and the Army at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, where it is located.
